Troughton too tough
SPIRIT Muay Thai’s rising talent Tom Troughton has notched up another win on his fight record after taking down a much more experienced opponent.
The young Mareeba martial artist put on an impressive performance over three rounds at the Explosive Fight Promotions, defeating an opponent with twice his fight experience by unanimous decision in a dominant display of skill, control, and determination.
The event, held in Cairns, is one of the biggest martial arts platforms in Far North Queensland and the 10-year-old stepped up to the plate.
From the opening bell, Troughton showcased sharp technique, smart ring IQ, and a relentless work rate – winning every single round with confidence and discipline.
Spirit Muay Thai coach Rosario Signorino said he was truly impressed with the young fighter.
“His performance reflected months of dedication and hard work inside the SMT gym,” he said.
“A big shout-out to coach Salvo (Salvatore Signorino) for his guidance and preparation, and to Jason for the great work in the corner on fight night. It was true teamwork and spirit all around.
“And a huge thanks to Explosive Fight Promotions for another professionally run event and the opportunity for our fighters to showcase their skills.”
