Wind farm walk for a good cause
ORGANISERS are expecting another great turnout for the 2025 Crime Stoppers Mt Emerald Fundraiser Walk later this month.

More than 180 people participated in the event last year which raises funds for Crime Stoppers FNQ.
The 27 July event offers two walks – one to the Mt Emerald Wind Farm and one from the Rocky Creek igloo to Walkamin.
The walk to the wind farm starts around 5am and takes participants along a 14km route which culminates in a spectacular sunrise.
The walk is said to be “moderate to hard”, with participants advised that they need to wear their own head lamp and agree to wearing a supplied hard hat.
The second, easier, walk leaves from Rocky Creek Igloo and heads to Walkamin along the wide, flat rail trail, around 8km in length.
A courtesy bus will pick people up from the meeting point at the Walkamin Community and Sports Club and drop people off at the start points for both walks.
The wind farm walk costs $50 and the Rocky Creek Igloo walk will be $45 per person, which includes the courtesy bus.
